How to Make the Budwig Diet Mixture

4/6/2016

Picture
The Budwig Diet, meaning the Budwig Protocol (it is actually not a “diet,” but rather a specific mixture) is necessary for many alternative treatments; from type 2 diabetes to cancer to heart disease to auto-immune diseases, etc.
Its purpose is to energize the cells by restoring the natural electrical balance in the cell. Many human diseases are caused by “sick cells” which have lost their normal electrical balance; generally via a lower ATP energy in the cell’s mitochondria.
One thing to understand, and this is critical, is that the WHOLE purpose of the Budwig Diet is to convert oil-soluble omega-3 fatty acids into water-soluble omega-3 fatty acids.
This is why it is so important to add things to the mixture in the right order. If you mix them in the wrong order you may lose a lot of the opportunity to convert the oil-soluble omega-3s into water soluble-omega-3s.  Since someone may “hit” this article directly from the Internet, here are a few resources on the theory behind the Budwig Diet and the use of the Budwig Diet.

Here is an article on the Budwig Diet by cancer researcher Mike Vrentas:
Budwig Diet
Here is another article on the Budwig Diet which was written by another Budwig expert:
Healing Cancer Naturally
Here is a DVD which details anentire day on the BudwigProtocol:
Entire Day on the Budwig

The IngredientsHere are the ingredients to make the Budwig Diet and how to mix them together.
Item #1: Refrigerated, Liquid Flaxseed OilThis is generally purchased at a health food store. For people who do not live near a health food store they can order it over the Internet. Even if it takes a few days of travel to arrive at your house, leaving it unrefrigerated for this period should not affect the product. But after it arrives refrigerate it.
The most popular brand is Barlean’s Flax Oil, but there are other brands. The key is that it is liquid and hasfar moreomega 3s than omega 6s. For example, my bottle (Barlean’s) has 6,200 mg of omega 3s to 1,810 mg of omega 6s. The reason for this ratio is that a normal diet will have far more omega 6 than omega 3, thus the supplement must havefar more omega 3 than omega 6.
One main issue is “lignans.” Lignans are particles which contain fiber. Some people claim you should buy non-lignan versions of flax oil and some people suggest you buy high lignan varieties.
The answer really depends on what you are using it for. For example, if you are using it for stomach cancer, and are on the Cellect-Bugwig protocol or Bill Henderson protocol, then you definitely need the “high lignan” version. This is because the stomach needs the fiber.
On the other hand, Mike Vrentas recommends no lignan varieties for other types of cancer patients. However, his reason is that it is hard to tell when the lignan version becomes rancid. This is generally not an issue in high volume health food stores.
What you use is up to you and your research.
MAKE A NOTE TO YOURSELF to shake the flaxseed oil well before putting it in the bowl.
Item #2: Cottage Cheese (U.S. Variety) or YogurtHere are the basic instructions on how to make the Budwig Mixture.
Grind with a small coffee grinder (1) Tblsp of Flax Seed and put in a small bowl. Do not buy pre-ground flax seed as the flax seed goes rancid 15 minutes after grinding. Brown or Golden whole Flaxseed is available and either will work. Grind fresh each time.
We have always recommended using the immersion [stick or wand like] mixer for the Flax Seed Oil and Cottage Cheese. Here is a link to immersion mixers:
Immersion Mixer Vendor
Mix (4) Tbs of organic 2% low fat Cottage Cheese with (2) Tbs organic cold pressed Flax Seed Oil commonly referred to as (Flax Oil). It is best (not) to use Flavored, Lignum or Highest Lignum Flax Oil. Two good flax oils are Barlean’s or Spectrum’s cold pressed organic flax oil. This can be found in the refrigerated section of the grocery or health food store. Never off the shelf. Never capsule or flakes. Watch the expiration date. Blend the flax oil and cottage cheese together with the immersion blender until reaching a creamy quality and the oil has been absorbed. There should be no standing oil. Then add to this mixture if needed, 1-3 Tbs of low fat milk for a creamery mixture and (stir with a spoon) no blender. This mixture should then be poured over the freshly ground flax seed and mixed together by spoon; again no blender. The ratio may be adjusted for smaller or larger proportions. A rule of thumb to keep in mind is one tablespoon of oil to two tablespoons of cottage cheese. The amount of milk can be adjusted as needed for consistency and easier blending. Once the mixture is completed it must be eaten immediately for best results. Make fresh each time. Here’s the link to the (YouTube) page showing how to combine the Flax Oil and Cottage Cheese in a video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSoddptWL0s
The above mixture can be flavored differently every day by adding nuts, preferably organic such as pecans, almonds or walnuts (not peanuts), banana, organic cocoa, shredded coconut, pineapple (fresh) blueberries, raspberries, cinnamon, vanilla or (freshly) squeezed fruit juice. It’s usually best to place the fresh fruit on top of the completed mixture and enjoy as its own meal. Try your best to obtain organic fruit when possible. Many times this can be found frozen when not in season.
The above protocol should not be consumed with any other supplements, foods or oils at the same time. This should be a stand alone meal.
Dr Budwig pointed out that people who are suffering from Chronic or Terminal disease should work themselves up to consuming 4-8 Tblsp of the oil daily. Usually the higher limits 6-8 Tbs were for people with cancer. She stated, people with Liver or Pancreatic Cancer etc, may have to work up very slowly with the oil and possibly only start with 1 teaspoon at a time giving their body time to adjust. Dr Budwig pointed out that cancer patients once starting the protocol and getting it under control must continue with a maintenance dose to prevent reoccurrence. A maintenance dose is considered (1) Tbs of the oil per one hundred pounds of body weight. The Budwig Diet takes time to work and in the event of cancer may take 3-6 months. Many other health issues can be much faster in responding.
Item #3: CinnamonEach brand of cinnamon has an oil content. For diabetic patients it is critical to go to a health food store and buy the highest percentage of oil as possible. Cinnamon mimics insulin, thus by adding cinnamon you may need less insulin immediately. See the article on how to cure type 2 diabetes for more information because other things also mimic insulin:
Diabetes Type II article
For everyone else, the main purpose of the cinnamon is to kill the taste of the flaxseed oil and cod liver oil, so the oil content is not that important.
Item #4: Mandarin Oranges or Some Other FruitThe sole purpose of this item is for taste, thus add whatever fruits you wish.
Final Important CommentsYou must consume the Budwig mixture within 20 minutes of making it. Do NOT make more than you need and do not refrigerate the leftovers!!!
Also, don’t forget to put the cottage cheese into the bowl first, then the flaxseed oil. THEN mix the two togetherbeforeputting anything else in the bowl.
See the individual treatment articles for more information on how to use the Budwig Diet for that particular health condition.

Does Alcohol increase your Risk of CANCER?

3/2/2016

If you drink alcohol regularly, then it is important to understand how your drinking is impacting your health. There are several research studies which have shown the health benefits of resveratrol, which is an antioxidant found in wine. Even though wine has this powerful antioxidant, you need to consider the other health implications from drinking alcohol.

In fact, evidence suggests that the amount of alcohol that you drink over time could have an impact on your cancer risk. At this point, it’s not completely understood exactly how alcohol plays a role in the development of cancer, but researchers have suggested that consuming higher amounts of alcohol might increase your risk.

Here are a few things that we know about alcohol and health:

Alcohol Depletes Certain Nutrients... Cancer risk might go up when there are nutrient deficiencies within the body, and it has been found that alcohol consumption depletes specific nutrients, including: magnesium, zinc, and B-complex vitamins. Heavy drinkers have a problem with folate levels, because the alcohol reduces the body’s ability to absorb folate from food sources.

Many people don’t get enough folate in their diet.  Alcohol consumption makes this problem worse by preventing the body from absorbing the folate that is available. Low folate levels have been linked with an increase in colon and breast cancers, so it is important that you reduce your alcohol consumption and eat more foods that are a good source of folate.

Chronic Inflammation from Alcohol... Alcohol can act as an irritant within the body, which can lead to chronic inflammation for some people. When the alcohol irritates the cells, especially in the throat and mouth, those cells are damaged. As the cells work to repair themselves, it is possible that DNA changes might occur which could eventually lead to cancer. This inflammatory response can occur anywhere in the body.

Drinking too much alcohol can also cause inflammation in the liver, and this damage can have a domino effect on other aspects of health.

Disrupted Hormone Levels... Alcohol consumption might play a role in hormone levels, because the alcohol might cause the levels of estrogen to increase within the body.  Estrogen plays a direct impact on the development of breast tissue, which can have a domino effect on the development of breast cancer.

If you want to reduce your risk of cancer, then it is best to limit your consumption of alcoholic beverages. Are you interested in learning about other lifestyle factors that impact your risk of cancer?  Contact a Certified Professional Cancer Coach to learn how to reduce your risks.

Thyroid Issues?  Try the Basal Temp test !

2/28/2016

Iodine is a trace element that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Iodine is an essential component of the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroid hormones regulate many important biochemical reactions, including protein synthesis and enzymatic activity, and are critical determinants of metabolic activity. They are also required for proper skeletal and central nervous system development in fetuses and infants.

The following are symptoms of hypothyroidism, as detailed by the Merck Manual, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the Thyroid Foundation of America:

gaining weight inappropriately
unable to lose weight with diet/exercise
constipated, sometimes severely
low body temperature (feel cold when others feel hot/need extra sweaters, etc.)
fatigued, exhausted
run down, sluggish, lethargic
hair is coarse and dry, breaking, brittle, falling out
skin is coarse, dry, scaly, and thick
hoarse or gravely voice
puffiness and swelling around the eyes and face
pains, aches in joints, hands and feet
carpal-tunnel syndrome, or it's getting worse
irregular menstrual cycles (longer, or heavier, or more frequent)
trouble conceiving a baby
depressed
restless
moods change easily
feelings of worthlessness
difficulty concentrating
feelings of sadness
losing interest in normal daily activities
more forgetful lately

The following are additional symptoms, which have been reported more frequently in people with hypothyroidism:

hair is falling out
can't seem to remember things
no sex drive
more frequent infections, that last longer
snoring more lately
have/may have sleep apnea
shortness of breath and tightness in the chest
feel the need to yawn to get oxygen
eyes feel gritty and dry and/or sensitive to light
eyes get jumpy/tics in eyes, which makes me dizzy/vertigo and have headaches
strange feelings in neck or throat
tinnitus (ringing in ears
recurrent sinus infections
vertigo and/or light-headedness
severe menstrual cramps
The Thyroid Gland: Understanding How It WorksThe thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland found inside your neck, right under your larynx or voice box. A two-inch long, brownish red, highly vascular gland, it has two lobes located on each side of the windpipe that are both connected by a tissue called the isthmus. A normal thyroid gland weighs somewhere between 20 and 60 grams.
Your thyroid is responsible for producing the master metabolism hormones that control every function in your body. It produces three types of hormones:
  • Triiodothyronine (T3)
  • Thyroxine (T4)
  • Diiodothyronine (T2)
Hormones secreted by your thyroid interact with all your other hormones, including insulin, cortisol, and sex hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. The fact that these hormones are all tied together and are in constant communication explains why a less-than-optimal thyroid status is associated with so many widespread symptoms and diseases.
Almost 90 percent of the hormone produced by your thyroid is in the form of T4, the inactive form. Your liver then converts the T4 into T3, the active form, with the help of an enzyme. T2, however, is currently the least-understood component of thyroid function and the subject of a number of ongoing studies.
If everything is working properly, you will make what you need and have the correct amounts of T3 and T4, which control the metabolism of every cell in your body. If your T3 is inadequate, either by scarce production or not converting properly from T4, your whole system suffers. T3 is critically important because it tells the nucleus of your cells to send messages to your DNA to rev up your metabolism by burning fat. This is how T3 lowers cholesterol levels, regrows hair, and helps keep you lean.
Your T3 levels can be disrupted by nutritional imbalances, toxins, allergens, infections, and stress, and this leads to a series of complications, including thyroid cancer, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism, which today are three of the most prevalent thyroid-related diseases.

Blood tests do not always measure accurate tissue levels of T3 and T4 (thyroid hormones). The body strives to keep T3 and T4 levels ‘normal’.  A serum Thyroid Anti-body test and a TSH test should be done. However, at home, a ‘basil temperature test’ is often a good way to check your thyroid. If you find your have many of the symptoms on this page and suspect not only an imbalance but perhaps ‘hypothyroidism’ then you must see your doctor as soon as possible. Thyroid imbalances can be successfully addressed with supplements and diet, but a true case of ‘hypothyroidism’ needs medical attention and medication. Nutritional consultants may not diagnose disease.  A thyroid that is in the process of autoimmune failure (a serum Thyroid Anti-body test will show this) can cause hypothyroid symptoms BEFORE the hypothyroidism shows up as TSH outside the normal range.

Basil Thyroid Temperature Test

Taking your temperature at home is a reliable way to determine if your thyroid gland is unbalanced and either working overtime (hyperactive) or working below normal (hypoactive). Thyroid blood tests measure the thyroid hormone T-4 in the blood but don’t reveal if the thyroid hormone T-3 is getting to the tissues that need it. A person may have a chronically under active thyroid and the symptoms that go along with it but have normal thyroid results from a blood test.

Immediately upon waking in the morning, before getting up, place a thermometer (mercury kinds work best) under the armpit for 10 minutes. Lie quietly during this time. Do this for 3 consecutive mornings to get an average temperature. Add all 3 numbers together and then divide by 3. The resulting temperature should be between 36.5 °C and 36.8°C (97.8°F – 98.20°F). If your average for the three mornings is below 36.5°C (97.8°F) then you may well have an under active thyroid gland. If your results are above 36.8°C (98.2°F) then your thyroid may be overactive. Menstruating women need to take their temperature on day 2, 3, and 4 of their cycle.

“Body temperature readings can be compared with your thyroid tests, which usually measure T4 hormone levels in the blood. If both temperature and blood levels are low, then the thyroid is not producing enough T4. If temperature is low but blood levels are normal, then the thyroid is producing enough T4 but the body is not converting enough of it into T3. (T3 is the form needed to activate cells fully, but the thyroid does not produce it. It must instead be converted in the various tissues of the body from the T4 that the thyroid makes.)”
Jennifer Hough, CPT CNC HBA

The thyroid gland may be working below average for many reasons. It may be worn out from compensating for other endocrine glands that are working below average (adrenals, ovaries, pancreas) or it may not be getting the right signals from the pituitary gland. There are many foods and supplements you can take (and avoid) to support the thyroid in recovering.

Mental Health Awareness~My Story

1/28/2016

Picture
Mental Health Awareness has come a long way... back in the 80's when I was diagnosed with a major depression in my teens there was a huge stigma attached.  I felt "singled out" and extremely self conscious.  At one point I was diagnosed with PTSD and Mis-diagnosed in my early 20's with bi polar disorder.  I believe my mental health was affected at an early age, after sexual abuse as a young child and a rape at just 14. Scared to say anything, I internalized the feelings, even abused drugs and alcohol to get through... After a suicide attempt at 15, I was put on medication and told to never go off it.  I struggled for many years and even tried to get off my medication several times only to fail and go back on.

As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist & Certified Professional Cancer Coach, I know how food can affect your mood.  There is growing evidence that the foods we eat can affect how we feel and our energy levels. There is a great book called "The food-Mood Connection" by Gary Null, Ph.D.   Many of the mental health diseases of today can be linked to nutrient deficiencies and gut health.  Years ago & even today, people go on low fat diets to try and lose weight and we are now seeing that the best way to feel great and lose weight is not to cut out the FAT, but to increase healthy fats which are especially needed for brain health and function!  Eating a diet full of sugar, processed foods, excess alcohol, pop and fruit juices which are all just sugar is going to affect not only your physical health but your mental health as well.

Many of us as adults have a lot of stress either from work, relationships, finances, children and pressures we place upon ourselves.  Its more important now than ever to find ways to reduce your stress by exercising, meditating, having a warm bath, diffuse essential oils to life your mood or go for a massage or a healing Reiki energy session.  Get 7-8 hrs of quality sleep each night, this will help relieve stress and make you feel much better during the day.  We need sunshine, Vitamin D to help boost mood and it is responsible for over 100 different processes in the body.  If you live in Canada, you are likely Vitamin D deficient in the winter months...

My heart goes out to the teens in today's society.  Many are struggling with depression, sadness, and stress. Their bodies are stressed with not only poor food choices and lack of nutrients but stress from electro magnetic fields.  Wireless cell phones, cell towers, wireless meters put stress on the body and has been found to be a link to cancer.  We need to encourage them to eat well, exercise daily, get plenty of sunshine, get plenty of sleep and encourage positive relationships.

Now in my mid 40's, after finding and using Time Line Therapy to let go of Negative Emotions, I was able to wean myself off my morning anti depressant for the first time in over 30 years!  I specifically let go of "Depression", and I am no longer depressed.   Even when life events happen that are sad, it is appropriate sadness without the overwhelming feelings of a full blown depression or sadness.  I now incorporate all that I've learned in what I call keys2healing which are using Holistic Nutrition, Exercise, Time Line Therapy, NLP, Hypnotherapy & Reiki Energy Healing into my coaching practice and I know I can help others to break free of depression, stress & illness using my keys2healing.  Contact me for a free discovery conversation if you would like to create optimal health and healing in your life.

You probably know this feeling of being trapped in negative emotions or limiting beliefs. You may be blocked by anxiety, insecurity or depression. You may believe that you are not good enough or not worthy to have things you want the most in life.  Or you may you have felt that the lack of energy or chronic physical issues such as chronic pain, allergies or auto-immune diseases, prevent you from reaching your goals.  You have tried “everything” to change, improve and heal, but somehow there is still something holding you back from reaching your goals. May be you have even started to give up on your dreams to have the life you desire.

Imagine how good it would feel to:
  • Discover and address the deeper root causes of your mental, emotional and physical blocks and limitations
  • Free yourself from subconsciously stored negative emotions and limiting beliefs
  • Erase self-sabotaging patterns and create congruency on all levels
  • Re-program your mind and cellular memory to greater peace, confidence and self-worth
  • Access your true potential to heal, change and thrive
  • Have the skills and tools to be in charge of your thoughts, emotions and actions – and to continuously grow and create more balance, success and well-being in your life.

This can all be achieved using Time Line Therapy....It is used to release negative emotions, such as anger, sadness, fear, guilt, shame and limiting beliefs (for example I am not good enough, I don not deserve) through hypnotic regression and subconscious learning.

Most clients require only 6-8 sessions, which can be once a week OR spread over a time period of 2-3 months to breakthrough their blocks and reach their goals.  Each session is 1.5 - 2 hours long, so that there sufficient time to go deep and create powerful shifts and momentum. During the sessions you will work consciously with your subconscious mind, activate your mind-body-spirit connection and spend some time in a very pleasant, relaxed light trance state. By using specific mind-activating modalities and techniques you are able to resolve deep-seated emotions and limiting beliefs and gain a new perspective on yourself and your life. Be free from your past, create your future with Time Line Therapy™ techniques:

Picture
Time-Line TherapyTM is a specific technique using the concept that we store our life experiences linearly. Time Line Therapy™ is a collection of techniques that allow you to gain emotional control over your life. Inappropriate emotional reactions, such as bursts of anger, periods of apathy, depression, sadness, anxiety, and chronic fear, are responsible for preventing people from achieving the quality of life they desire. Limiting decisions, such as "I'm not good enough," "I'll never be rich," or "I don't deserve a great marriage," create false limitations and hamper your ability to create reachable and attainable goals and outcomes. Created by Dr. Tad James, Time Line Therapy¨ techniques enable you to eliminate many types of issues in your past, thus allowing you to move forward toward your goals and desires.

Why does Time Line Therapy™ work so well?
The Time Line Therapy™ works on the principle of a Gestalt. A Gestalt is a sequence of significant emotional events that are all linked together, imagine if you will a pearl necklace with each pearl representing a significant emotional event in your life.

We all have Gestalts for all our emotions, anger, sadness, fear, hurt, guilt and others. Each time there is a significant emotional event in our lives, another pearl on the necklace is added. Some pearls are big (these are the large emotional events) while some are smaller (the less significant events).

The great news is that Time Line Therapy™allows us to track back to that very first emotional event that lead to the Gestalt being formed. So what do you think would happen if we removed the first pearl from that necklace?

Yep, you got it, the whole necklace (or Gestalt) falls apart and the entire chain of emotional events are dealt with in one go – the real key to the process is getting back to the first event of that emotion – then dealing with it by hovering above it, the client always able to control the intensity of the emotion.  A truly life changing technique used personally and in business.

Why do clients love Time Line Therapy™ so much? If you've ever had ‘regular’ therapy in the past you will have been required to relive the negative emotion in order to come to terms with it. This is painful and in my view unnecessary.

Time Line Therapy allows you to deal with those negative events and emotions WITHOUT experiencing them again and reliving them. This makes this type of therapy enjoyable, and if something is enjoyable it tends to get great results too!

When is Time Line Therapy™ Used?
In Business
Personally I find that many business owners carry their personal hang ups in life over into their business, beliefs about success, self worth and self doubt all hold a business back. NLP is used to uncover these emotions, find out what they are and Time Line Therapy™ is then used to resolve those emotions to ensure that the client feels ‘whole’ again, aligned to their goals and ready for the future with positivity.
  • Remove anger about past business decisions
  • Remove guilt of past activity and decisions
  • Live in control of your negative emotions and be able to see the way to a positive future
In Weight Loss
Weight problems are never about only the weight, the weight problem is caused by an unresolved negative emotion, limiting decision or conflicting part of you personality. Time Line Therapy allows us to deal with these emotions simply, easily, enjoyably and comfortably.

In Therapy
Once again, negative emotions are easy to deal with using Time Line Therapy™ as the client is not required to relive them. This makes therapy using this technique a very powerful experience for the client and totally life changing. Remove anger, sadness, fear, hurt, guilt, shame and many other emotions that are holding you back.
  • Do you get angry with other people you love? Get rid of that anger with Time Line Therapy™
  • Do you have past hurt that preventing you doing what you want? Get rid of that hurt with Time Line Therapy™
  • How about sadness… is sadness holding you back? Is it time to move on and let go?
What are the results of a client that has had Time Line Therapy™
Typically after  Time Line Therapy™ the client is unable to access those negative emotions – so think about it now, what would you be doing or having if you were no longer angry? Often a client will report that:
  1. They have more energy
  2. They are more focused and less easily distracted by day-to-day niggles… you know the ones!
  3. They are more tolerant of others, which makes business and life easier
  4. If weight is an issue, it simply falls off  as their is no longer any negative emotion that normally stimulates that need for comfort eating!

How to Menu Plan?

8/16/2015

Do you know how to menu plan for yourself and your family?  What happens at 4pm when your thoughts turn towards food and you wonder, what the heck are we going to have for dinner?  Sometimes people and families go out because they think its just easier, fast and cheap.  Or maybe you swing by the grocery store and pick up a few frozen dinners?

Some people may enjoy being creative and making something out of whatever is left in the fridge and cupboards. Or if you're like me, you may like to have a plan and a list when you go to the store so you know exactly what to pick up and how much it will cost.

Set up a time each week to write out your grocery list.  Go through some of your favorite healthy recipes as well as take into account any upcoming special events that week.  Be sure to have a sheet of paper with each day of the week written down along with each meal and snacks.  Write out your food plan and transfer any food items needed to a grocery list. On your meal planning worksheet, write down the recipe name and page number if you are preparing foods from a particular recipe.

Decide what to prepare. It might be helpful to build in some routine as you first get started. Maybe Tuesday night is always fish night. Fridays you always go out to eat. Saturday is healthy homemade pizza night. You get the point. This helps makes the whole process feel a little less daunting.

Remember that you can always make great meals with leftovers.  If you cooked a chicken the day before, any leftovers can be used to make soups, chicken wraps or tacos.

That’s it! Learning how to menu plan is actually pretty simple, but it will only work if you do it.
Tell me: Do you menu plan?

Since over a quarter of a million of women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer this year, this dreaded C disease is affecting many children, spouses and communities.  Fortunately, there is change in the wind with relatively new sciences called Epigenetics and Nutrigenomics that study the effect of specific nutrient and plant chemicals and how they affect our gene expression. Scientists have discovered that specific phytochemicals can actually turn on healthy detoxification genes and turn off the inflammatory genes that often lead to disease.

Here is a sample list of the power behind nature’s “farmacy” and the role it plays in healing and preventing not just Breast Cancer but all types of cancer.
  1. Prevent DNA damage
  2. Control regulatory genes
  3. Turn off Inflammation that promotes cancer
  4. Block excessive cell division
  5. Reverse malignant cells to healthy cells
  6. Trigger cancer cell death or apoptosis
  7. Block abnormal growth factors
  8. Cut off blood supply to tumors
  9. Prevent spread or metastasis of cancer

Here is a partial list of what Dr. V refer to as “Tumor Terminators”.

These are specific nutrients that have a powerful healing effect on the body.  If you go to www.pubmed.org which is the United States National Library of Medicine, you can get lost in the amount of evidence – based research about the nutrients that offer hope for prevention and healing cancer naturally.
  Blood root
  Melatonin
  Selenium
  Sulforaphane from Broccoli sprouts
  Vitamin D
  Iodine
  Resveratrol
  Curcumin
Flax seed oil and fish oils
  Soy isoflavones
  Green tea polyphenols
  I3C from cruciferous vegetables
  Frankincense Essential Oil

If you know if someone who is searching for a way to enhance & support their body’s ability to heal, please share this important information.  Anyone looking to work with a Certified Cancer Coach can contact me by emailing lynnthier@gmail.com or call 506-999-3554!

Is Fruit Good for You?

7/2/2015

There’s compelling evidence supporting the notion that high-fructose diets are responsible for many chronic diseases and conditions, including insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Fruits contain fructose, which is why some caution is warranted with their consumption.

That being said, in vegetables and fruits, the fructose is mixed in with fiber, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and beneficial phytonutrients, all of which help moderate the negative metabolic effects. If you are healthy, eating small amounts of whole fruits is fine and potentially beneficial.

However, if you suffer with any fructose-related health issues, such as insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, heart disease, obesity, or cancer, you would be wise to limit your total fructose consumption to 15 grams of fructose per day. This includes fructose from ALL sources, including whole fruit.

If you are not insulin resistant, you may increase this to 25 grams of total fructose per day on average. Let me restate my recommendations on fruit and fructose consumption as simply as possible:

  1. If you're insulin or leptin resistant (are overweight, diabetic, hypertensive, or have high cholesterol), then it would be advisable for you to limit your fruit intake. As a general rule, I recommend limiting your fructose intake to a maximum of 15 grams of fructose per day from ALL sources, including whole fruit.
  2. If you are not insulin/leptin resistant, (are normal weight without diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol) and regularly engage in strenuous physical activity or manual labor, then higher fructose intake is unlikely to cause any health problems. In this case, you can probably eat more fruit without giving it much thought.
  3. However, if you are in category two above, you might benefit from a further refinement. Fruit will still increase your blood sugar and many experts believe this will increase your protein glycosylation. So my approach is to consume the fruit typically after a workout as your body will use the sugar as fuel rather than raise your blood sugar.
  4. Additionally, if you're an endurance athlete, you can probably get away with eating fairly large amounts of fruits, since your body will use most of the glucose during exercise, so it won't be stored as fat.
  5. If you're still unsure of just how stringent you need to be, get your uric acid levels checked and use that as a guide. See below for details…

Measuring Your Uric Acid Level Can Help Determine How Much Fruit Is Right for You
The higher your uric acid, the more sensitive you are to the effects of fructose. The safest range of uric acid appears to be between 3 and 5.5 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl), and there appears to be a steady relationship between uric acid levels and blood pressure and cardiovascular risk, even down to the range of 3 to 4 mg/dl.

According to Dr. Richard Johnson, the ideal uric acid level is probably around 4 mg/dl for men and 3.5 mg/dl for women. If you are one of those who believes fruit is healthy no matter how much you eat, I would strongly encourage you to have your uric acid level checked to find out how sensitive you are to fructose. Eat the amount of fruit you feel is right for you for a few weeks and then check your uric acid level and see if your levels are healthy.

If they are elevated, you might try reducing the fruit to recommended levels and rechecking your uric acid level. Many who are overweight likely have uric acid levels well above 5.5. Some may even be closer to 10 or above. Measuring your uric acid levels is a very practical way to determine just how strict you need to be when it comes to your fructose – and fruit -- consumption
