How to Make the Budwig Diet Mixture

4/6/2016

Picture
The Budwig Diet, meaning the Budwig Protocol (it is actually not a “diet,” but rather a specific mixture) is necessary for many alternative treatments; from type 2 diabetes to cancer to heart disease to auto-immune diseases, etc.
Its purpose is to energize the cells by restoring the natural electrical balance in the cell. Many human diseases are caused by “sick cells” which have lost their normal electrical balance; generally via a lower ATP energy in the cell’s mitochondria.
One thing to understand, and this is critical, is that the WHOLE purpose of the Budwig Diet is to convert oil-soluble omega-3 fatty acids into water-soluble omega-3 fatty acids.
This is why it is so important to add things to the mixture in the right order. If you mix them in the wrong order you may lose a lot of the opportunity to convert the oil-soluble omega-3s into water soluble-omega-3s.  Since someone may “hit” this article directly from the Internet, here are a few resources on the theory behind the Budwig Diet and the use of the Budwig Diet.

Here is an article on the Budwig Diet by cancer researcher Mike Vrentas:
Budwig Diet
Here is another article on the Budwig Diet which was written by another Budwig expert:
Healing Cancer Naturally
Here is a DVD which details anentire day on the BudwigProtocol:
Entire Day on the Budwig

The IngredientsHere are the ingredients to make the Budwig Diet and how to mix them together.
Item #1: Refrigerated, Liquid Flaxseed OilThis is generally purchased at a health food store. For people who do not live near a health food store they can order it over the Internet. Even if it takes a few days of travel to arrive at your house, leaving it unrefrigerated for this period should not affect the product. But after it arrives refrigerate it.
The most popular brand is Barlean’s Flax Oil, but there are other brands. The key is that it is liquid and hasfar moreomega 3s than omega 6s. For example, my bottle (Barlean’s) has 6,200 mg of omega 3s to 1,810 mg of omega 6s. The reason for this ratio is that a normal diet will have far more omega 6 than omega 3, thus the supplement must havefar more omega 3 than omega 6.
One main issue is “lignans.” Lignans are particles which contain fiber. Some people claim you should buy non-lignan versions of flax oil and some people suggest you buy high lignan varieties.
The answer really depends on what you are using it for. For example, if you are using it for stomach cancer, and are on the Cellect-Bugwig protocol or Bill Henderson protocol, then you definitely need the “high lignan” version. This is because the stomach needs the fiber.
On the other hand, Mike Vrentas recommends no lignan varieties for other types of cancer patients. However, his reason is that it is hard to tell when the lignan version becomes rancid. This is generally not an issue in high volume health food stores.
What you use is up to you and your research.
MAKE A NOTE TO YOURSELF to shake the flaxseed oil well before putting it in the bowl.
Item #2: Cottage Cheese (U.S. Variety) or YogurtHere are the basic instructions on how to make the Budwig Mixture.
Grind with a small coffee grinder (1) Tblsp of Flax Seed and put in a small bowl. Do not buy pre-ground flax seed as the flax seed goes rancid 15 minutes after grinding. Brown or Golden whole Flaxseed is available and either will work. Grind fresh each time.
We have always recommended using the immersion [stick or wand like] mixer for the Flax Seed Oil and Cottage Cheese. Here is a link to immersion mixers:
Immersion Mixer Vendor
Mix (4) Tbs of organic 2% low fat Cottage Cheese with (2) Tbs organic cold pressed Flax Seed Oil commonly referred to as (Flax Oil). It is best (not) to use Flavored, Lignum or Highest Lignum Flax Oil. Two good flax oils are Barlean’s or Spectrum’s cold pressed organic flax oil. This can be found in the refrigerated section of the grocery or health food store. Never off the shelf. Never capsule or flakes. Watch the expiration date. Blend the flax oil and cottage cheese together with the immersion blender until reaching a creamy quality and the oil has been absorbed. There should be no standing oil. Then add to this mixture if needed, 1-3 Tbs of low fat milk for a creamery mixture and (stir with a spoon) no blender. This mixture should then be poured over the freshly ground flax seed and mixed together by spoon; again no blender. The ratio may be adjusted for smaller or larger proportions. A rule of thumb to keep in mind is one tablespoon of oil to two tablespoons of cottage cheese. The amount of milk can be adjusted as needed for consistency and easier blending. Once the mixture is completed it must be eaten immediately for best results. Make fresh each time. Here’s the link to the (YouTube) page showing how to combine the Flax Oil and Cottage Cheese in a video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSoddptWL0s
The above mixture can be flavored differently every day by adding nuts, preferably organic such as pecans, almonds or walnuts (not peanuts), banana, organic cocoa, shredded coconut, pineapple (fresh) blueberries, raspberries, cinnamon, vanilla or (freshly) squeezed fruit juice. It’s usually best to place the fresh fruit on top of the completed mixture and enjoy as its own meal. Try your best to obtain organic fruit when possible. Many times this can be found frozen when not in season.
The above protocol should not be consumed with any other supplements, foods or oils at the same time. This should be a stand alone meal.
Dr Budwig pointed out that people who are suffering from Chronic or Terminal disease should work themselves up to consuming 4-8 Tblsp of the oil daily. Usually the higher limits 6-8 Tbs were for people with cancer. She stated, people with Liver or Pancreatic Cancer etc, may have to work up very slowly with the oil and possibly only start with 1 teaspoon at a time giving their body time to adjust. Dr Budwig pointed out that cancer patients once starting the protocol and getting it under control must continue with a maintenance dose to prevent reoccurrence. A maintenance dose is considered (1) Tbs of the oil per one hundred pounds of body weight. The Budwig Diet takes time to work and in the event of cancer may take 3-6 months. Many other health issues can be much faster in responding.
Item #3: CinnamonEach brand of cinnamon has an oil content. For diabetic patients it is critical to go to a health food store and buy the highest percentage of oil as possible. Cinnamon mimics insulin, thus by adding cinnamon you may need less insulin immediately. See the article on how to cure type 2 diabetes for more information because other things also mimic insulin:
Diabetes Type II article
For everyone else, the main purpose of the cinnamon is to kill the taste of the flaxseed oil and cod liver oil, so the oil content is not that important.
Item #4: Mandarin Oranges or Some Other FruitThe sole purpose of this item is for taste, thus add whatever fruits you wish.
Final Important CommentsYou must consume the Budwig mixture within 20 minutes of making it. Do NOT make more than you need and do not refrigerate the leftovers!!!
Also, don’t forget to put the cottage cheese into the bowl first, then the flaxseed oil. THEN mix the two togetherbeforeputting anything else in the bowl.
See the individual treatment articles for more information on how to use the Budwig Diet for that particular health condition.

The 3 "Selves", which one are you projecting into the world?  Small Shift 4 big results.

Picture

Do you know what is blocking your success or happiness in life?
Ultimately nothing will satisfy you if you don't already feel good about yourself on the inside.  You see we have 3 selves.  Our negative self, our pretend self and our authentic self.  When all your energy is going into maintaining the illusion of your projected self and hiding the image of your feared self from the world, the still, small voice of the authentic self—who you really are—can barely be heard.

You see, at our core is our authentic self—the reality of who and what we really are.  But piled on top of the real us—is a layer of shame, fear, and guilt about the person we're afraid we are, or better known as our negative self-image.  So in order to make sure people still like us, approve of us, and give us love and money, we pile yet another layer on top of our feared self—the person we pretend to be.

As you begin to excavate your real self out from under who you're afraid you are and who you pretend to be (excavate the diamond out from under the horse manure covered in nail polish), you get to shift positions from passenger to driver. And when your real self is driving the bus, you get to have more ease, more fun, and more you in your life!

Your Pretend Self:  Who you pretend to be
Your pretend self is the image you project into the world. Often, this image is based on your fears and how afraid you are.  What and who do you pretend to be in front of others? Take a moment and write down your pretend self traits.

Your Negative Self-image: Who you are afraid you are
If someone calls you a name that you don't identify with it, there is rarely an emotional charge attached. If something upsets us, it's usually because at some level we believe it might be true. For Example: If someone calls you ugly or stupid and it gives you an emotional charge, you may consciously or unconsciously believe this to be true.  Take an honest look at yourself, Any "negative" traits you identify are not really yours—they belong to your negative self-image and were programmed into you when you were a child. By identifying them honestly, you can let them go!

Your Authentic Self: Who you truly are
By identifying the traits and characteristics of your three selves, you are freeing yourself up to live more and more from the heart of who you really are—your powerful, loving, unstoppable authentic self.  Who you really are always feels good.  I'd like you to ask yourself the following questions.
  • Who are you when nobody's watching?
  • If you felt totally safe, what would you do differently?
  • Who would you be if you lived beyond fear?

Do you want to Reprogram your self image?
Just saying affirmations and doing work at the conscious level doesn't always work.  The fact is that your body responds far more readily to the vivid use of imagination than to a simple command. IF you would like to know how to reprogram yourself in just minutes a day, contact me for a free 20 min session where I will walk you through the process!  With small shifts, you can create big results!

Does Alcohol increase your Risk of CANCER?

3/2/2016

Picture
If you drink alcohol regularly, then it is important to understand how your drinking is impacting your health. There are several research studies which have shown the health benefits of resveratrol, which is an antioxidant found in wine. Even though wine has this powerful antioxidant, you need to consider the other health implications from drinking alcohol.

In fact, evidence suggests that the amount of alcohol that you drink over time could have an impact on your cancer risk. At this point, it’s not completely understood exactly how alcohol plays a role in the development of cancer, but researchers have suggested that consuming higher amounts of alcohol might increase your risk.

Here are a few things that we know about alcohol and health:

Alcohol Depletes Certain Nutrients... Cancer risk might go up when there are nutrient deficiencies within the body, and it has been found that alcohol consumption depletes specific nutrients, including: magnesium, zinc, and B-complex vitamins. Heavy drinkers have a problem with folate levels, because the alcohol reduces the body’s ability to absorb folate from food sources.

Many people don’t get enough folate in their diet.  Alcohol consumption makes this problem worse by preventing the body from absorbing the folate that is available. Low folate levels have been linked with an increase in colon and breast cancers, so it is important that you reduce your alcohol consumption and eat more foods that are a good source of folate.

Chronic Inflammation from Alcohol... Alcohol can act as an irritant within the body, which can lead to chronic inflammation for some people. When the alcohol irritates the cells, especially in the throat and mouth, those cells are damaged. As the cells work to repair themselves, it is possible that DNA changes might occur which could eventually lead to cancer. This inflammatory response can occur anywhere in the body.

Drinking too much alcohol can also cause inflammation in the liver, and this damage can have a domino effect on other aspects of health.

Disrupted Hormone Levels... Alcohol consumption might play a role in hormone levels, because the alcohol might cause the levels of estrogen to increase within the body.  Estrogen plays a direct impact on the development of breast tissue, which can have a domino effect on the development of breast cancer.

If you want to reduce your risk of cancer, then it is best to limit your consumption of alcoholic beverages. Are you interested in learning about other lifestyle factors that impact your risk of cancer?  Contact a Certified Professional Cancer Coach to learn how to reduce your risks.

Thyroid Issues?  Try the Basal Temp test !

2/28/2016

Iodine is a trace element that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Iodine is an essential component of the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroid hormones regulate many important biochemical reactions, including protein synthesis and enzymatic activity, and are critical determinants of metabolic activity. They are also required for proper skeletal and central nervous system development in fetuses and infants.

The following are symptoms of hypothyroidism, as detailed by the Merck Manual, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the Thyroid Foundation of America:

gaining weight inappropriately
unable to lose weight with diet/exercise
constipated, sometimes severely
low body temperature (feel cold when others feel hot/need extra sweaters, etc.)
fatigued, exhausted
run down, sluggish, lethargic
hair is coarse and dry, breaking, brittle, falling out
skin is coarse, dry, scaly, and thick
hoarse or gravely voice
puffiness and swelling around the eyes and face
pains, aches in joints, hands and feet
carpal-tunnel syndrome, or it's getting worse
irregular menstrual cycles (longer, or heavier, or more frequent)
trouble conceiving a baby
depressed
restless
moods change easily
feelings of worthlessness
difficulty concentrating
feelings of sadness
losing interest in normal daily activities
more forgetful lately

The following are additional symptoms, which have been reported more frequently in people with hypothyroidism:

hair is falling out
can't seem to remember things
no sex drive
more frequent infections, that last longer
snoring more lately
have/may have sleep apnea
shortness of breath and tightness in the chest
feel the need to yawn to get oxygen
eyes feel gritty and dry and/or sensitive to light
eyes get jumpy/tics in eyes, which makes me dizzy/vertigo and have headaches
strange feelings in neck or throat
tinnitus (ringing in ears
recurrent sinus infections
vertigo and/or light-headedness
severe menstrual cramps
The Thyroid Gland: Understanding How It WorksThe thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland found inside your neck, right under your larynx or voice box. A two-inch long, brownish red, highly vascular gland, it has two lobes located on each side of the windpipe that are both connected by a tissue called the isthmus. A normal thyroid gland weighs somewhere between 20 and 60 grams.
Your thyroid is responsible for producing the master metabolism hormones that control every function in your body. It produces three types of hormones:
  • Triiodothyronine (T3)
  • Thyroxine (T4)
  • Diiodothyronine (T2)
Hormones secreted by your thyroid interact with all your other hormones, including insulin, cortisol, and sex hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. The fact that these hormones are all tied together and are in constant communication explains why a less-than-optimal thyroid status is associated with so many widespread symptoms and diseases.
Almost 90 percent of the hormone produced by your thyroid is in the form of T4, the inactive form. Your liver then converts the T4 into T3, the active form, with the help of an enzyme. T2, however, is currently the least-understood component of thyroid function and the subject of a number of ongoing studies.
If everything is working properly, you will make what you need and have the correct amounts of T3 and T4, which control the metabolism of every cell in your body. If your T3 is inadequate, either by scarce production or not converting properly from T4, your whole system suffers. T3 is critically important because it tells the nucleus of your cells to send messages to your DNA to rev up your metabolism by burning fat. This is how T3 lowers cholesterol levels, regrows hair, and helps keep you lean.
Your T3 levels can be disrupted by nutritional imbalances, toxins, allergens, infections, and stress, and this leads to a series of complications, including thyroid cancer, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism, which today are three of the most prevalent thyroid-related diseases.

Blood tests do not always measure accurate tissue levels of T3 and T4 (thyroid hormones). The body strives to keep T3 and T4 levels ‘normal’.  A serum Thyroid Anti-body test and a TSH test should be done. However, at home, a ‘basil temperature test’ is often a good way to check your thyroid. If you find your have many of the symptoms on this page and suspect not only an imbalance but perhaps ‘hypothyroidism’ then you must see your doctor as soon as possible. Thyroid imbalances can be successfully addressed with supplements and diet, but a true case of ‘hypothyroidism’ needs medical attention and medication. Nutritional consultants may not diagnose disease.  A thyroid that is in the process of autoimmune failure (a serum Thyroid Anti-body test will show this) can cause hypothyroid symptoms BEFORE the hypothyroidism shows up as TSH outside the normal range.

Basil Thyroid Temperature Test

Taking your temperature at home is a reliable way to determine if your thyroid gland is unbalanced and either working overtime (hyperactive) or working below normal (hypoactive). Thyroid blood tests measure the thyroid hormone T-4 in the blood but don’t reveal if the thyroid hormone T-3 is getting to the tissues that need it. A person may have a chronically under active thyroid and the symptoms that go along with it but have normal thyroid results from a blood test.

Immediately upon waking in the morning, before getting up, place a thermometer (mercury kinds work best) under the armpit for 10 minutes. Lie quietly during this time. Do this for 3 consecutive mornings to get an average temperature. Add all 3 numbers together and then divide by 3. The resulting temperature should be between 36.5 °C and 36.8°C (97.8°F – 98.20°F). If your average for the three mornings is below 36.5°C (97.8°F) then you may well have an under active thyroid gland. If your results are above 36.8°C (98.2°F) then your thyroid may be overactive. Menstruating women need to take their temperature on day 2, 3, and 4 of their cycle.

“Body temperature readings can be compared with your thyroid tests, which usually measure T4 hormone levels in the blood. If both temperature and blood levels are low, then the thyroid is not producing enough T4. If temperature is low but blood levels are normal, then the thyroid is producing enough T4 but the body is not converting enough of it into T3. (T3 is the form needed to activate cells fully, but the thyroid does not produce it. It must instead be converted in the various tissues of the body from the T4 that the thyroid makes.)”
Jennifer Hough, CPT CNC HBA

The thyroid gland may be working below average for many reasons. It may be worn out from compensating for other endocrine glands that are working below average (adrenals, ovaries, pancreas) or it may not be getting the right signals from the pituitary gland. There are many foods and supplements you can take (and avoid) to support the thyroid in recovering.

Foods 2 help you Quit the Habit... & throw in some Hypnosis to make it easy!

2/5/2016

Picture
Do you need help to get rid of this habit called smoking? Have you tried before to no avail?  How about trying some foods that can assist you in your efforts to quit the habit once and for all?  The trick is to make the right choices of food when you finally plan to quit.

There are about 4800 chemicals contained in a cigarette out of which 69 can cause cancer. Whereas,
secondhand smoke comprises of 7000 chemicals out of which 70 are known as cancer-causing.
So smoking is not only lethal for the smoker himself but also for the people being exposed to
the secondhand smoke. Smoking causes lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases, emphysema and fertility problems.

Joseph McClernon, Ph.D., director of the Tobacco Neuroscience Research Lab at Duke University states that fruits and vegetables can worsen the taste of the cigarettes.  Here is a list of foods to enjoy while quitting smoking!
Carrots
James A. Duke, PhD. Botanist at the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service, in Maryland, says,
“If cigarettes are cancer sticks, carrots are anticancer sticks”. His own routine was 3 packs of
cigarettes per day. He claims that carrots played a vital role in helping him quit smoking.
The component called caroteniods found in carrots not only helps you quit smoking but also saves
you from cancer.

Sunflower Seeds
Researchers claim that sunflower seeds have the same effect on your mind as tobacco, i.e.
they increase the production of adrenaline. Sunflower seeds not only have a calming effect on
your mind but also contain essential B-complex vitamins that help in the nourishment of the nervous
system. They are a good option for smoking quitters but overeating is not suggested as they contain
high contents of fats. Choose the one with shells so that the consumption process can take time.

Bananas
Recent studies have found that banana can help quit smoking. The most common problem faced by
the smoking quitters is that they feel lack of energy and stressed out. The friendly bananas, full of
essential vitamins and minerals, can boost your energy and calm you down in stressful conditions
caused by nicotine cravings. Whenever you feel the urge to smoke, kill it by eating a banana.

Marjoram tea
Marjoram is an aromatic herb commonly found in the Mediterranean countries. Its tea can be very
effective for those who want to quit smoking. It makes the throat dry as a result smoking becomes less
pleasurable. All you need to do is, boil 1 teaspoon of marjoram tea in a cup of water for 15 minutes.
Whenever you feel the craving you can consume this tea. This herb is easily available at all health food stores.

Cloves
Cloves do not completely help you quit smoking but may help you limit the quantity of cigarettes you smoke. Whenever you smoke your first cigarette of the day, suck on a small clove, this will leave the taste of nicotine in your mouth for a long time and will reduce the urge for another cigarette.

All the above mentioned foods can help you quit smoking but also keep in mind that there are some foods
that can actually aggravate your craving for smoke. According to the research conducted at the
Duke University, when you plan to quit smoking, avoid taking meat, alcoholic beverages and coffee
because these foods make cigarettes taste better.

Make quitting easy using HYPNOSIS!
Hypnotherapy for smoking is fast becoming one of the most popular forms of treatment to help you do this.  If you are considering stop smoking hypnosis, the first step is to make sure you are choosing to quit for yourself. Hypnotherapy is most effective when you really want to quit. For example, if you are stopping because friends or a family member is pushing you, you may not get the results you want.

Hypnotherapy works by putting you in a deep, relaxed state where your mind is more open to suggestion. At this point your hypnotherapist will look to change your thought patterns. You may also be taught various tools and techniques, which you can practice at home.  While for some people just one session is enough to quit smoking, others may benefit from a follow-up session. The ultimate aim of stop smoking hypnosis is to empower people to take control of their addiction and develop new patterns of thinking that promote healthier behaviours.

Mental Health Awareness~My Story

1/28/2016

Picture
Mental Health Awareness has come a long way... back in the 80's when I was diagnosed with a major depression in my teens there was a huge stigma attached.  I felt "singled out" and extremely self conscious.  At one point I was diagnosed with PTSD and Mis-diagnosed in my early 20's with bi polar disorder.  I believe my mental health was affected at an early age, after sexual abuse as a young child and a rape at just 14. Scared to say anything, I internalized the feelings, even abused drugs and alcohol to get through... After a suicide attempt at 15, I was put on medication and told to never go off it.  I struggled for many years and even tried to get off my medication several times only to fail and go back on.

As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist & Certified Professional Cancer Coach, I know how food can affect your mood.  There is growing evidence that the foods we eat can affect how we feel and our energy levels. There is a great book called "The food-Mood Connection" by Gary Null, Ph.D.   Many of the mental health diseases of today can be linked to nutrient deficiencies and gut health.  Years ago & even today, people go on low fat diets to try and lose weight and we are now seeing that the best way to feel great and lose weight is not to cut out the FAT, but to increase healthy fats which are especially needed for brain health and function!  Eating a diet full of sugar, processed foods, excess alcohol, pop and fruit juices which are all just sugar is going to affect not only your physical health but your mental health as well.

Many of us as adults have a lot of stress either from work, relationships, finances, children and pressures we place upon ourselves.  Its more important now than ever to find ways to reduce your stress by exercising, meditating, having a warm bath, diffuse essential oils to life your mood or go for a massage or a healing Reiki energy session.  Get 7-8 hrs of quality sleep each night, this will help relieve stress and make you feel much better during the day.  We need sunshine, Vitamin D to help boost mood and it is responsible for over 100 different processes in the body.  If you live in Canada, you are likely Vitamin D deficient in the winter months...

My heart goes out to the teens in today's society.  Many are struggling with depression, sadness, and stress. Their bodies are stressed with not only poor food choices and lack of nutrients but stress from electro magnetic fields.  Wireless cell phones, cell towers, wireless meters put stress on the body and has been found to be a link to cancer.  We need to encourage them to eat well, exercise daily, get plenty of sunshine, get plenty of sleep and encourage positive relationships.

Now in my mid 40's, after finding and using Time Line Therapy to let go of Negative Emotions, I was able to wean myself off my morning anti depressant for the first time in over 30 years!  I specifically let go of "Depression", and I am no longer depressed.   Even when life events happen that are sad, it is appropriate sadness without the overwhelming feelings of a full blown depression or sadness.  I now incorporate all that I've learned in what I call keys2healing which are using Holistic Nutrition, Exercise, Time Line Therapy, NLP, Hypnotherapy & Reiki Energy Healing into my coaching practice and I know I can help others to break free of depression, stress & illness using my keys2healing.  Contact me for a free discovery conversation if you would like to create optimal health and healing in your life.

Baking Soda & Lemon Juice~disease destroyer

1/13/2016

If there is one thing you could do every day that would dramatically fight disease and increase your energy, consuming lemon juice combined with baking soda would be on the top of the list. Even athletes are using baking soda to give themselves extra energy in their sports competitions. Did you know that baking soda (Bicarbonate) cannot only fight serious diseases and tiredness, but also extinguish a fire, clean your house, unclog a drain, soften your laundry, stop heartburn, relieve itching from poisonous plants and bug bites, brush your teeth and wash your hair?

Baking Soda combined with Lemon juice is a powerhouse of energy and healing. Many of us suffer from what is called “
Acidosis”, which is an excessive acidic condition. Acidosis is a leading pathogenic force in the development of many chronic diseases, such as; cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases (such as asthma and arthritis) osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, gout, dementia, obesity and premature aging, headaches, depression, sleepiness, loss of consciousness, arrhythmia, kidney stones, indigestion, urinary tract infections, shortness of breath and fatigue.
Harmful pathogens need a PH acidic state to live and thrive. Many, who suffer with cancer, have a very acidic PH state, often around 6, whereas 7.2 is the PH neutral state we need to achieve for good health.  Dr. Johanna Budwig was in favor of using as many natural substances as possible. Introducing more lemon into your diet is one of the easiest and natural ways to introduce high alkaline substances into the system. When you use the lemon and baking soda together it helps to fight cancerous cells or diseases in the body while helping to increase the body’s ability to clean itself up of what may be causing the diseases in the first place.

How to Prepare the Baking Soda and Lemon MixtureAt night time, put 1 glass of water into an empty  jar and then add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and the juice of one whole lemon. Be sure to clean the lemon peel well beforehand.
Now fill the jar with pure water and leave overnight. In the morning upon rising drink 1 glass of this lemon/baking soda mixture.  This drink will cleanse the intestines and help restore the PH balance first thing in the day. Before going to bed, ideally 2 hours or more after eating, drink another glass of the same mixture and then make more of the same mixture for the next day.
You will notice within a few days an improvement in your general overall health, energy and with time all kinds of illnesses and health problems will diminish.

Do you or a loved one have cancer or other serious health condition that you are concerned about? Connect with Lynn for a free 30 min discovery session to see if we are a fit to work together to get you and your health back on track.

Are you chronically Stressed?

12/27/2015

Stress often starts with your thoughts, in your head with a worry or a fear, and those feelings of overwhelm, anxiety and perhaps even panic, don’t stay there. When you feel stressed, your body ramps up production of the stress hormones cortisol, adrenaline, and norepinephrine.  This triggers the start of the stress response, and, like a snowball rolling down a mountain, it gains traction and speed until you’re ready for the proverbial attack.  "Stress is not a state of mind... it's measurable and dangerous, and humans can't seem to find their off-switch." These words of warning come from renowned author and award-winning neurobiologist Robert Sapolsky in the documentary Stress: Portrait of a Killer. Watch the documentary at the top of this article.

Excess stress hormones are released far too often. Your stress response becomes imbalanced; it’s not shutting off. Your immune system suffers as a result, and epigenetic changes are rapidly occurring.  Stress can occur with any event, a job loss, divorce, or traumatic event.

The stress is triggering systemic low-grade inflammation, and suddenly your blood pressure is up, your asthma is flaring, and you keep getting colds. Your body is out of homeostasis.
You’re having trouble sleeping and, on an emotional level, you feel like you’re nearing burnout. That’s when you notice that you’ve put on some weight, and you’re having digestive troubles too.

Stress Takes a Toll on Your Brain and Adds Inches to Your Waistline

Did you know that  stress can also lead to weight gain--of the worst kind? Stress-induced weight gain typically involves an increase in belly fat, which is the most dangerous fat for your body to accumulate, and increases your cardiovascular risk.  Stress alters the way fat is deposited because of the specific hormones and other chemicals your body produces when you're stressed.

Prolonged stress can also damage your brain cells and make you lose the capacity to remember things. Stress disrupts your neuroendocrine and immune systems and appears to trigger a degenerative process in your brain that can result in Alzheimer's disease. Stress can also accelerate aging by shortening your telomeres, the protective genetic structures that regulate how your cells age. In the words of Dr. Lissa Rankin, author of Mind Over Medicine:
"Our bodies know how to fix broken proteins, kill cancer cells, retard aging, and fight infection. They even know how to heal ulcers, make skin lesions disappear and knit together broken bones! But here's the kicker--those natural self-repair mechanisms don't work if you're stressed!"

Stress clearly affects your whole body and can lead to depression, heart disease, digestive problems, frequent colds, insomnia, anxiety and more...  so what can you do?

What you do for stress is a personal choice, what works for some may not for others.  Letting go of negative emotions, beliefs and limiting decisions is one way to help manage stress.  This can be done using the powerful techniques of Time Line Therapy.  Perhaps yoga, meditation or a high intensity workout is in order to help you manage stress.  Eating a healthy diet and drinking plenty of pure water is in order when you are feeling stressed.  Its always great to have support, join group activities or a support group if that is what appeals to you.  One more crucial point is to get adequate sleep!  Lack of sleep will impair your body's ability to handle stress.  A good night's sleep is always a great stress reliever.

Catching a cold or flu?  Discover 9 things you can do now to be well again!

You know the feeling. It may start with a scratchy throat or with a few more aches and pains than normal. Or it could begin with a runny nose and a feeling of exhaustion. Yes, it’s a cold coming on — or maybe worse — the flu. Before you reach for the antihistamine, however, why not try an effective natural remedy instead?
Essential oils have been used for centuries to fight the symptoms of the common cold. You can add them to your bathwater, diffuse them in the air you breathe, some you can take internally or even apply them directly to your skin. Essential oils help the body fight off infection and serve to strengthen the immune system
1.  Tea Tree or Melaleuca Essential Oil - Extracted from the tea tree (Melaleuca), which is native to Southeast Queensland and New South Wales, Australia, tea tree oil has antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic and antiviral properties. Used in an inhaler or in a bath, tea tree oil helps you fight the congestion and the resulting discomfort caused by the cold or the flu.
2.  Lavender Essential Oil- Lavender essential oil has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, and it is gentle enough for use with children.  Use in a warm bath, on a pillow or in a diffuser.
3.  Lemon Essential Oil- Lemon essential oil, with its high vitamin content, helps boost the body’s immune system and stimulates the production of white blood cells, thereby increasing your ability to fight off illness. Lemon oil also improves circulation throughout the body. Put a drop in water, tea, use it with honey and cinnamon!
4.  Eucalyptus Essential Oil- As an antiviral and a decongestant, eucalyptus essential oil (eucalyptus globulus) helps treat colds and congestion. In her book Aromatherapy A – Z, author Patricia Davis recommends using eucalyptus oil in a steam inhaler to help open blocked nasal passages, to soothe inflammation and to fight bacteria.
5.  Oil of Oregano - Oregano oil might be one of the most natural potent flu-fighters, but few can stand the taste. You may put a drop or two into a veggie cap to take, some put it in water or a drop directly under the tongue.  For a stuffed-up nose or tickled throat, Dr. Oz recommends adding a few drops of oregano oil to a bowl of hot water, then holding your head over the bowl to inhale the vapours – for maximum effect (and if you can stand it!) drape a towel over your head while you do this to trap in the steam.

Best foods to eat when sick!
Ginger - Potent fresh ginger is excellent for calming nausea when you have the flu, and is also beneficial for colds.  It has been scientifically shown to have potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties, making it a perfect ingredient to boost immune function and combat cellular damage.
kefir – is a good source of probiotics, which promote a healthy gut and build up your body’s immune system, helping it fight back against infection.
Chicken Soup-There’s a reason moms have been prescribing chicken noodle soup for decades and decades – it actually works! “Chicken soup really can help fight a cold due to its ability to alleviate inflammation -- particularly respiratory tract inflammation
Coconut Water -You probably already know you should drink beverages high in electrolytes when you have the flu, as vomiting and diarrhea dehydrate your body. Instead of reaching for sports drinks, which contain added sugars, opt for coconut water instead, which is a natural source of electrolytes that helps restore balance to your body.

Quit Smoking Now!

Why is smoking so harmful? On the surface a cigarette may look harmless, but it’s the smoke released when the cigarette is burned that causes problems. Cigarettes are not just tobacco wrapped in paper. They contain a whole cocktail of chemicals, which are added during the manufacturing process to make them taste better and get you hooked. The following is a list of some of the harmful substances you are breathing in every time you smoke:
Nicotine  This is the drug that stimulates the brain and causes addiction in smokers. If you smoke regularly, you may find as soon as you withdraw from the nicotine you experience unpleasant symptoms. These may include intense cravings, increased anxiety, irritability and headaches. Smoking immediately relieves these symptoms.
Tar  Tar is the residue that deposits in your lungs after smoking tobacco. From here it enters the bloodstream and gets carried to other parts of the body. Shockingly, it contains over 4000 chemicals, over 50 cancer-causing carcinogens and other poisons. This is why smoking is considered one of the biggest causes of disease.
Carbon monoxide This gas affects how much oxygen your blood can carry around the body. As a result, smoking prevents your body from getting the oxygen it needs to function smoothly. This can lead to shortness of breath, low energy levels and poor circulation.

Why you should stop smokingSmoking increases your risk of developing a wide range of health ailments and diseases. Below we explore some of the most common:
  • Lung cancer - More than eight in 10 cases of lung cancer are directly related to smoking.
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) - Again, eight out of 10 cases of this distressing lung disease are caused by smoking.
  • Heart disease - Considered the UK's biggest killer, around one in six cases is caused by smoking.
  • Other cancers - Including mouth, throat, nose, blood, cervix and pancreatic cancer.
  • Infertility - Smoking affects the fertility of men and women, making it harder to conceive.
  • Gum disease - On top of staining your teeth, smoking can cause premature tooth loss due to gum disease.
Smoking not only harms your health, it can also negatively impact the livelihood of those around you. Children and babies living with people who smoke are vulnerable to a whole host of health problems. These include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and an increased risk of dying from cot death.
Adults who endure passive smoking for a long period of time are at increased risk of heart disease and lung cancer. Tobacco is also an irritant so it can make conditions such as asthma worse.
The benefits of quittingThe above information may make for a scary read, but for some the long-term risks are not enough to encourage them to quit smoking. If you are young and a smoker, you may find it hard to be concerned about your health and the illnesses that could strike decades later. If you are older, you may assume it's too late to stop smoking and reverse the effects it has had.
In reality, it is never too late to quit. The sooner you quit smoking, the faster your body will recover and your risk of developing life-threatening conditions will decrease.
Longer life expectancy - If you quit smoking by the age of 30, you could increase your life expectancy by 10 years. Even if you are in your 60s when you decide to quit, you can still add three years onto your life. Not only will you have a longer life if you stop smoking, you should also have fewer health problems.
More energy - Carbon monoxide robs your body of oxygen, which makes it difficult for it to work properly. When you stop smoking you will be lowering the carbon monoxide levels in your blood, allowing your lungs and muscles to work the way they should. More oxygen to the brain will also help you to feel more alert, energised and awake.
Boosted immune system - When you smoke, your immune system is lowered. This makes you more susceptible to colds and flu. When you quit smoking your immune system gets a boost, which means you will pick up less illnesses and generally feel healthier all round.
More money - If you have smoked 20 cigarettes a day for 10 years, how much money will you have spent?  Take time to figure it out... Every time a craving hits - think about what you could do with that extra money.
Better breathing - Within nine months of quitting smoking, your lung capacity should increase by as much as 10%. This will help you to do simple things like climb stairs without feeling out of breath. Your smoker's cough should also disappear and any breathing difficulties or conditions you have (such as asthma) should be dramatically reduced.
Reduced stress - Many smokers reach for a cigarette when they are feeling stressed. While the immediate hit of nicotine after withdrawal may make you feel relaxed at first, in the long-term, smoking increases stress levels. Studies have shown that ex-smokers are less stressed than they were when they were smoking.
Younger looking skin - Smoking prematurely ages the skin. Regular smoking can leave your skin dull, dry and prone to wrinkles. When you quit smoking, this effect is reversed as your skin receives the nutrients it needs. In time, you should find your complexion brightens up and any lines you have may appear reduced.
Hypnotherapy for smoking is just one of the ways you can quit for good and fully embrace the benefits of being a non-smoker. Book your hypnotherapy session with Lynn Thier, HERE Certified Hypnotherapist, Time Line Therapist, NLP Practitioner, & Nutritionist.

Hypnotherapy for smoking - When it comes to quitting smoking, a key aspect is letting go of the routine you once had and looking at cigarettes differently.

Some people find stop smoking hypnosis is enough to break the habit, while others prefer to combine the treatment with NLP or medication. This helps to tackle both the physical and mental addiction together. By exploring all the avenues you should find a suitable treatment that will help you quit smoking for good.
It is important to remember that hypnotherapy for smoking is not a quick fix. While for some people just one session is enough to quit smoking, others may benefit from a follow-up session. The ultimate aim of stop smoking hypnosis is to empower people to take control of their addiction and develop new patterns of thinking that promote healthier behaviours.
