Which Antioxidant backs up Liver during Crisis!

New York: Like a generator kicking in when the power fails, an antioxidant system acts as a back up to help sustain the liver when other systems are missing or compromised, researchers have discovered.

The newly found system, reported in the journal Nature Communications, is fuelled by methionine, an amino acid that cannot be manufactured in the body and does not come from herbal teas or supplements,

People get it only by eating protein. Methionine is found in high levels in eggs, meat, fish, Brazil nuts, sesame seeds and cereal grains.

“This is an important finding,” said Ed Schmidt, professor at the Montana State University.

“It tells us about humans and all living things. It is an alternative way to maintain the balance you need in your cells to be alive,” Schmidt added.

Some vitamins and supplements act as antioxidants, Schmidt said. They help protect cells from the damage that can lead to ageing, cancers and inflammatory diseases.

To investigate further, Schmidt’s lab generated mice whose livers lacked key components of two known natural systems in liver cells: the thioredoxin and glutathione systems.

The mice were not robust. They were on the brink of failure, Schmidt said. And yet they survived.

Pursuing the mystery, the researchers found the third antioxidant system and said it has broad implications for health issues in humans.

“Methionine, a sulphur-containing amino acid that is required in our diet so our cells can make proteins, is also a potent, but previously unrecognised antioxidant that, unlike any other antioxidant tested to date, can sustain the liver when the two other systems are absent or compromised,” Schmidt added.

Should Cancer Patients take supplements?  
There continues  to be controversy among mainstream medicine as to whether cancer patients should take vitamin and mineral supplements.  Some in mainstream medicine have attached the use of vitamin supplements as being potentially harmful, despite scientific evidence indication that cancer patients who supplement, benefit. Hydrogen Peroxide — “Medical Miracle”

Did you know that hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) ranks up there as one of the best household remedies? Here is why it is considered one of the few “miracle substances” still available to the general public!
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) ranks up there as one of the best household remedies. Hydrogen peroxide is one of the few “miracle substances” still available to the general public; it is safe, readily available, and dirt cheap. And best of all, it works!

Did you know that you probably had your first sip of hydrogen peroxide shortly after you took your first breath? That’s right… mother’s milk (especially colostrum) contains extremely high concentrations of H2O2. In light of the fact that we know that one of the main functions of mother’s milk is to activate and stimulate the immune system in the infant, the fact that it contains abnormally large amounts of H2O2 makes sense.

As far back as the early nineteenth century, hydrogen peroxide was widely used in medicine. Many bacterial diseases (including syphilis) responded to H2O2 when no other treatment was effective. In the early twentieth century, H2O2 was used to treat several common diseases, such as whooping cough, cholera, typhoid fever, ulcers, tuberculosis, and asthma. However, as the pharmaceutical industry began to develop expensive, new drugs, hydrogen peroxide was increasingly ignored and finally discarded as a treatment.

H2O2 stimulates natural killer (NK) cells, which attack cancer cells as they attempt to spread throughout the body. In the body’s immune response, hydrogen peroxide is released by T-cells to destroy invading bacteria, viruses and fungi. Blood platelets release hydrogen peroxide on encountering particulates in blood. In the large intestine, acidophilus lactobacillus produces H2O2 which keeps the ubiquitous candida yeast from multiplying out of control. When candida spreads out of the intestine, it escapes the natural control system and can gain a foothold in the organs of the body, causing what is called chronic fatigue syndrome.

During flu season, if the kiddos feel like they’re getting sick, we lay them down on their side and put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide into their ear. After a few seconds, the liquid will bubble, indicating that it is killing the infection. After 5 or 10 minutes, we turn them over and repeat on the other ear. No one yet fully understands the complete workings of hydrogen peroxide, but we do know that it is loaded with oxygen.

We know that when H2O2 is taken into the body (orally or intravenously) the oxygen content of the blood and body tissues increases dramatically. Please remember that the hydrogen peroxide that is available at your local pharmacy (3% hydrogen peroxide) should NEVER be ingested orally, since it contains many stabilizers. The only grade recommended for internal use is 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide, which must be properly diluted down to 3% with water. I use hydrogen peroxide each night before bed as a rinse and also a natural teeth whitener.

Cancer Facts you Need to Know!

1.      Researchers worldwide agree that at least half of all cancers and cancer-related deaths are preventable.  In 2015, an estimated 1.6 million deaths will be attributed to cancer – saving half with prevention is an excellent place to start.

2.      Cancer is the single name assigned to more than 100 diseases.  Though cancer was once referred to as a “wasting disease,” it is actually the result of abnormal cells that multiply and spread out of control to various points in your body, damaging healthy cells along the way.  Most types of cancer result in tumors but cancers that affect the blood do not.

3.      Only a very small percentage of cancers (less than 5%) have a genetic link, so when the “experts” tell us that most cancers are genetic, they are not being truthful. However, despite the fact that  research indicates that we likely did not inherit some mysterious “cancer gene” from our parents, most of us did inherit our “mamma’s cookbook” and were likely exposed to the same toxins as our immediate family, so cleaning up our diet, exercising, and detoxification are all extremely important.

4.      Speaking of toxins, environmental factors can increase your risk of cancer.  The air you breathe, the water you drink, and the food you eat are all important.  Pollution, heavy metal toxicity, and even household cleaning products can damage the cells in your body and increase your risk of cancer.  Your home and workplace are the two places you spend the majority of your time.  Ensuring your personal safety must be a top priority.

5.      More than 90% of all lung cancer cases are caused by smoking.  Interestingly, it’s notactually tobacco itself that causes the cancer – it’s the chemicals that are used in the process of making the tobacco product that cause cancer.  Quitting is the number one preventative measure you can take right now to decrease your cancer risk.  Even non-smokers are at risk from secondhand smoke.  A person dies from lung cancer every thirty seconds somewhere in the world and it is the leading cancer killer of men and women in the United States.

6.      Sleep deprivation – defined as less than six hours per day – increases your risk of colon cancer.  Recent studies also showed a higher risk of cancer among those who work night shiftschedules.  The benefit of healing sleep is one of the most underestimated ways to keep your body strong and cancer-free.

7.      Every day, more than forty children are diagnosed with cancer – more than 14,000 per year in the United States alone.  Cancer (or more accurately the conventional “treatments” for cancer) is the #1 killer of children as a result of disease.  Today, cancer (and cancer treatments) will claim the lives of four children – more than complications from congenital birth defects, type 1 diabetes, and asthma combined.  The survival rates among children with cancer are not improving because the conventional treatments (chemo and radiation) actually cause cancer and very little emphasis is placed on finding the cause of the disease rather than merely treating symptoms (tumors) by shrinking them with carcinogenic chemicals like chemotherapy.

8.      Popular cold cuts, sausage, and hot dogs contain nitrates – you’ll see them on the label as sodium nitrate and potassium nitrite.  Nitrates are chemical additives used in processed meats in order to preserve them and add flavor.  Preparation with high heat and ingestion causes a chemical reaction with the digestive fluids in your body, converting nitrates to nitrites – a known carcinogen.  Nitrates also filter into groundwater from the use of fertilizer so consider using a filter for drinking water.

9.      Globally, approximately one in every eight deaths is caused by cancer.  In fact, cancer causes more deaths than malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS combined.  Developed countries have higher incidences of cancer.  Experts believe it is a combination of diet and lifestyle that affects our overall health.

10.  The most common cancer diagnosed in women cancer of the breast.  Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women.  Breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer are the most common diseases for which women are diagnosed.

11.  Lung, prostate, and stomach cancer are the most common diseases for which men are diagnosed.  Survival rates for lung cancer are less than 20%.  If you smoke and have a job where you inhale toxins, your chance of survival drops to just over 3%.

12.  People aged fifty-five or older have the highest cancer risk.  Approximately 77% of all cancers diagnosed are found in men and women of this age group.

13.  Research has revealed that obesity increases your risk of cancer.  It can also affect your chances of survival should you be diagnosed with cancer.  In one study of post-menopausal women with breast cancer, the survival rates were higher in women who maintained a healthy body weight.

14.  You may experience no symptoms of ovarian cancer, lung cancer, or colon cancer until the cancer cells spread to other areas of your body.  Early screening is imperative to catching these cancers in time.

15.  Skin cancer is the cancer diagnosed most often.  The number of detected skin cancer cases increases steadily every year. The popular myth is that exposure to the sun causes skin cancer, but this is not completely accurate. Sun exposure is actually good for you and increases your body’s production of vitamin D (via the interaction of ultraviolet light with cholesterol in your skin). Thirty minutes of early morning or late afternoon sun on your hands and face is enough to get your recommended dose of vitamin D. But you don’t want to burn, as this might cause DNA damage and eventually cancer, so be careful. But do not use sunscreen, as it filters out helpful ultraviolet light and also causes cancer.  The main chemical used in sunscreens to filter out ultraviolet light is octyl methoxycinnamate (“OMC”) which has been shown to kill mouse cells even at low doses.  Plus, it was also shown to be particularly toxic when exposed to sunshine. OMC is present in 90% of sunscreen brands! The most popular brands of sunscreens also contain other toxic chemicals (such as dioxybenzone and oxybenzone) that are absorbed through the skin where they enter the bloodstream, generate free radicals, wreak havoc on the immune system, damage the liver and the heart, and even promote systemic cancer.

16.  Healthy cells have a built-in ability to self-destruct.  The scientific name for this process is calledapoptosis but health writers refer to it as “cell suicide.”  This is the process by which the cell recognizes that damage is present and destroys itself to protect the rest of the body.  In cancer cells, this automatic process is absent but scientists don’t know why.  Cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and heart disease have all been linked to a breakdown in apoptosis.

17.   There are foods that can naturally trigger damaged cells to self-destruct via apoptosis.  Green tea, berries, turmeric, avocados, garlic, kale, and even dark chocolate are just a few of the foods that target and destroy cancer cells.

Causes of Cancer-Lymphatic Drainage Problems?

Our lymphatic system is a part of our circulatory system...It functions as a central component of the immune system.  it consists of fluid, called lymph, derived from blood and tissue fluid.  this lymph moves through lymph vessels and is returned by these vessels to the bloodstream.  Lymph is the clear fluid that bathes  the cells.  The interstitial fluid contains cell debris, nutrients, waste products, fats, proteins, sugars, hormones, and everything else you can imagine a cell would be exposed to, including toxins.  

It is important to drain this space so that it can be cleaned of debris, waste and toxins.  if this space were kept stagnant, the cells would die, starved of oxygen and nutrients, and poisoned by their own toxic waste, as well as by environmental toxins that enter the body through food,water and air contamination.  Drainage of the tissue occurs with the help of the bloodstream and lymphatics.  New fluid, filled with nutrients and oxygen, seeps through capillary walls into the interstitial space.  Some fluid returns to the capillaries, but a large amount as well as white blood cells, proteins, fats, some toxins and large particles of debris are left behind, constituting the lymph, which must find another way back into the bloodstream.

Over 85% of the lymph fluid flowing from the breast drains to the armpit, or axillary, lymph nodes.  Most of the remaining fluid enters nodes alongside the breastbone.  If anything were to constrict the flow of lymph from the breast, there would be poor drainage of the breast tissue.  Slight pressure such as soft tissue compression can influence the flow within the vessel... now what do you suppose a bra can do to the lymphatic flow?  because of the way bras are constructed, the weight of the breasts is distributed between the shoulder straps, the side panels, the cups under-wire or cloth support, and the band between the cups.  The bra also lifts and shapes the breasts which exerts extra pressure on the breast tissue.

When you consider the lymphatic drainage of the breasts, it seems plausible that the armpit lymph nodes and lymphatics leading to them are constricted by a bra.  Drainage to the liver from below the breast may also be stopped by the pressure of the cups against the breast.  shoulder straps, too may potentially cut off drainage of those lymphatics that run from the top of the breast to the armpit.   Further constriction of the lymphatics may cause toxins to become concentrated within the breast tissue.  In theory, the immune system of the breast is being hampered in its job by the bra.  Unable to drain the tissue, the immune system cannot filter out toxins and repair damage.  For women who take off their bras at night, the process of cleansing and repair can finally begin.  Over the years, chronic constriction may take its toll and the immune system is beaten. Some breast cells become malignant.  

What can we do?  Make sure to wear proper fitting bras without under-wire during the day when needed.  If you are home, have a day off, consider going bra less!  There are therapeutic essential oils that have been found to be anti tumoral.

Is DIET soda making you sick & fat?

Study subjects who drank two or more diet sodas a day had waist size increases that were six times greater than those of people who didn't drink diet soda.

Interestingly, a few recent studies actually associate diet soda intake with increased health risk.

  • The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio found that people who drink diet soda are likely to gain, not lose, weight.
  • Diet soda drinkers in the Framingham Heart Study were at high risk for weight gain and symptoms of the Metabolic Syndrome, such as elevated blood sugar levels.
  • Researchers at Purdue University found that rats fed artificial sweeteners gained more weight than rats fed "sugary foods."

“Data from this and other prospective studies suggest that the promotion of diet sodas and artificial sweeteners as healthy alternatives may be ill-advised,” said study researcher Helen P. Hazuda, professor at the University of Texas’s school of medicine. “They may be free of calories, but not of consequences.”

Artificial Sweeteners confuses your body, they have more intense flavor than real sugar, so over time products like diet soda dull our senses to naturally sweet foods like fruit, says Brooke Alpert, RD, author of The Sugar Detox. Even more troubling, these sugar stand-ins have been shown to have the same effect on your body as sugar. "Artificial sweeteners trigger insulin, which sends your body into fat storage mode and leads to weight gain," Alpert says.

Drinking one diet soda a day was associated with a 36% increased risk of metabolic syndrome and diabetes in a University of Minnesota study. Metabolic syndrome describes a cluster of conditions (including high blood pressure, elevated glucose levels, raised cholesterol, and large waist circumference) that put people at high risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes. 

Early studies suggest that artificial sweetener may trigger headaches in some people.   A recent study presented at a the American Academy of Neurology meeting found that over the course of 10 years, people who drank more than four cups or cans of soda a day were 30% more likely to develop depression than those who steered clear of sugary drinks.

Anti Cancer Diet Tips

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death today and it consequently brings turmoil to the heart of the people who are diagnosed with it. This disease generally develops over many years and there are various reasons that increase your risk of getting it. Thankfully, there are quite a few things you could do to prevent and fight cancer.

Eat  a proper, whole foods diet - Eat dark green vegetables for the magnesium they contain. Magnesium helps prevent cells replicating unnecessarily.  Great Choices to include in your diet are kale, spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts, watercress, collards... Fruits and vegetables contain anti-oxidants that help maintain your body’s immunity.  

Garlic/onions/leeks - helps prevent the initiation, promotion and recurrence of many cancers and protects us from bacteria, yeast and fungi. Contain sulphur bearing amino acids and allyl sulphides, helps the liver detox. Garlic is Best Raw, 3 cloves daily.

Include sea vegetables daily.  Kelp, dulse, wakame, kombu are very alkalizing foods.  Cancer can’t survive in an alkaline environment.  Kelp inhibits the binding of estradiol to alpha and beta estrogen receptors and reduces serum estradiol levels (in rat studies, J Nutr 2005 Feb; 132 (2);296-300).

Eat 50-80% Raw foods, more enzyme activity to assist with digestions and detoxification.  Preserves many of the vitamins and minerals in foods eaten. 

Include fresh vegetable juices which supply vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals to the body.  Carrot, beet, cabbage are the staple for prostate/breast cancer… may add kale, parsley, watercress, asparagus, tomato, bok choy, apples, ginger, garlic, sprouts and seaweed.  Fresh juices improves the body’s detoxification. 

Citrus juices and peel contain flavonoids and limonene that have been found to inhibit the growth and proliferation of cancer cells.  Include tangerines/oranges/lemons/grapefruit.  

Include healthy fats such as omega 3 found in flaxseed oil.  Omega 3 oils protect us from cancer and inhibits tumor growth.  Limit intake of omega 6 oils as they will promote the growth of an already existing tumor without the balance of omega 3. 

Eat an abundant amount of fiber, increase the amount slowly.  Start out with 20g and work your way up to 30-50g per day.  Include both soluble and insoluble fiber such as cabbage, carrots, grapes, oatmeal, oatbran, sesame seeds, flaxseeds, beans, apples, tomatoes, strawberries etc.

Avoid anything processed !   Foods to avoid are anything sweet, sugar strongly stimulates cancer growth.  Choose carbs &  fruit  with a low glycemic index.  Dairy products have environmental toxins, are difficult to digest and many people’s immune systems are overtaxed by consuming dairy.  Our bodies produce excess mucus which accumulates and is linked to conditions such as ear infections, sinusitis, asthma, and may cause tumor formation in the breasts, uterus or ovaries.  According to the current health news, it is possible to manage cancer easily by changing one’s lifestyle, diet and mindset.
