It is our goal to maximize the therapeutic outcomes of treatment. As Professional Cancer Coaches, we want you and all of our partners in the health care team to know a little bit about us and what we can add to the treatment program.
Professional Cancer Coaches formed in 2008 from a collective group of clinical health care professionals. We came together to answer a need expressed for an individually tailored, supportive program. One where a patient can benefit from our unique knowledge and experience in cancer care and recovery.
Our programs address the perilous components that cancer patients face both during their journey and after remission. Contributing risk factors - nutrition, environment, lifestyle all need to be modified to avoid cancer recurrence. Treatment education, resource planning, coping, and overall navigation through the disease process is critical during cancer.
Our coaches provide a variety of services directed to maximize adherence to the therapeutic plan creating an optimal environment for positive outcomes. Solidly based in independent research and documentation, we incorporate the most up to date information on transformational treatment options as the basis of our program. We strive to be on the cutting edge of cancer treatment and continuously update our protocols through our scientific board of advisors and medical researchers. We would like you to be reassured that prevention, early detection and appropriate intervention-with maximum benefit to the patient is our goal too!
With the best of intentions, the health care team may find themselves pressed for time when attempting to address the numerous questions, concerns and reassurances required by the patient and his or her family, friends and support group. Cancer Coaches are a wonderful resource, welcoming the opportunity to provide the much needed support and assistance to the patient and their loved ones. This in turn, enables medical practitioners to utilize their time with the patient as efficiently as possible. It is our experience that patients and their support network often have increased stress, numerous questions, and a tremendous need for support and reassurance. This is one of the pivotal roles easily performed by the Cancer Coach!
We feel that it is essential to foster optimum communication channels between ourselves, the patient and the entire medical team. We invite you to contact us with any questions, suggestions or thoughts you may have regarding our services and programs. The sharing of our knowledge and skills will certainly enhance our patient’s ability to defeat this disease.
If you have a patient whom you feel would benefit from additional guidance, support and resource planning, please feel comfortable recommending our services. We are, in fact, working with the government to make Cancer Coaches an integral part of the treatment team. The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation brought us to their facility in March of 2012 to educate and certify their staff as cancer coaches! That is how amazing this program is! If a patient requires private coaching, we have one-on-one patient coaching programs that are covered by most insurance plans. Our programs are meant to be beneficial, not cost prohibitive.
The National Association of Professional Cancer Coaches is the first association to have organized, research based and goal directed support on a professional level, for all cancer patients. We invite you to review our entire web site and to call us with any questions you have.
